Swakopmund's carnival season does not start quietly. At 11:11 on Saturday 29 August 2026, the Narrenwecker wakes the Narren along Sam Nujoma Avenue and the Küska (Küstenkarneval) season is officially open.
This year's theme is "Wir malen den Nebel bunt", we paint the fog colourful. A fitting idea for a coast that spends half the year under a grey blanket.
