Meike's Gästehaus sits at the edge of Swakopmund's central business district, a short walk from the historic centre and its restaurants, and a longer stroll to the beach. It is run by its owners, Meike and Klaus Würriehausen, which gives the place a distinctly personal feel — they and their team help with booking activities and will make dinner reservations for guests.
There are seven rooms in total: five doubles and two family suites sleeping four each. Four of the doubles are set up for wheelchair users. Alongside these is a fully equipped two-bedroom apartment for guests who prefer to self-cater; breakfast can be added on request.
Every room is bright and stylishly furnished, with its own veranda opening onto the garden and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Rooms come with a fridge, TV, tea and coffee station and a hairdryer. Breakfast is a generous continental spread with bread baked fresh each morning and homemade jams.
Sustainability is taken seriously here. The hot water is supplied entirely by solar, and Meike's was the first tourism establishment in Swakopmund to receive the Eco Award of the Namibian Tourism Association. Secure off-street parking is free for guests.
